Fuyang Library was established in 1992 by the merger of the Fuyang County Library (built in 1956) and the Fuyang City Library (built in 1976). It is a national third-class library with a total collection of 710,200 books, including 410,300 paper books, 270,000 e-books, and 29,900 periodicals and newspapers.

The new Fuyang Library is located in Shuangqingwan Park, Chengnan New District. Built according to the standard of the national first-class library, it is a modern and comprehensive library integrating collection, lending, exhibition and training, book promotion and other functions. It was opened on October 29, 2023 for trial operation. The new library has a floor area of 34,000 square meters, designed to collect 1,070,000 books and 2,700 reading seats. It has set up 28 featured functional areas such as digital experience area, audition reading room, study (maker) space, Xihu academy, local literature museum, Fuyang humanities center, reading room for the visually impaired, comic books center, children’s picture books center, multi-functional exhibition area, etc., which satisfies local people’s reading tastes, meets their diversified needs and highlights humanistic care.
